Duane Peters, aka the “Master of Disaster” is a Southern California skateboarder and punk vocalist, inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2015. Coming up in late-’70s pools and parks, he was among the first pros (alongside Steve Olson) to wire punk’s sound and style straight into skateboarding. On a board he’s credited with a run of now-standard moves: acid drop, disaster (fakie hang-up), Indy air, sweeper, invert revert, layback rollout, and the backside layback grind revert, the kind of progress that defined an era of aggressive bowl and vert skating.
Off the deck, Peters fronted and formed bands that carried the same energy, most notably U.S. Bombs (founded 1993), keeping a direct line between sessions and stages across Southern California. The mix of trick innovation and punk crossover kept him central to the scene and a lasting reference point for skate-punk culture.

Across the years, Peters kept showing up where progression happens: early ’80s Pipeline/Upland contests covered in Thrasher, a 2005 Black Label documentary (Who Cares?), TransWorld’s 2003 Legend Award, and “legends” invites like Red Bull Skate Generation, recognition that tracks his impact on both the deck and the stage. We released a set of wheel & decks to honor his legacy.
